49 Neon Secrets

The town square in Leerdam is a public space, accentuated with glass and neon - unusual materials to use in a square. However, this has to do with the glass industry in Leerdam. The inspiration for the total basic design comes from the story "Le Petit Prince", written by Antoine de Saint-Exup.

In total 49 cubes with hidden inscriptions and neon sculptures visualise the centre square, embraced by long axis, which connect the station, the square and the old city. In cooperation with landscape architect Angrid Tilanus, links with other disciplines such as street furnishings and trained trees are made.
